What is it about an “About Me” section that seems so daunting? As an educator, one of the hardest topics to talk about is…well…me. I cringe on the first day of school and at open houses, being center-stage, trying to convince the audience that I am THE authority on the subject (English) for those 55ish minutes I spend each day with the kids.
But, after 12 years of teaching (a second career) and countless hours of building curriculum, planning lessons, creating assessments, researching best practices…perhaps, maybe, just maybe, I need to give myself a little more credit and recognize that yes, I do know what I’m talking about. Usually.
I didn’t get to this place alone. I’d be remiss to not give credit where credit is due – and that credit belongs to the education community, at large. We beg, borrow, and steal from one another and meld the old with the new. We constantly monitor and adjust – not just in the classroom, but in life as well. We are educators and *this* is education.
I can’t wait to hear about your successes in the classroom.
